I Made Mitt Romney’s Wife Cry

22 02 2010

Attending church at the same place as Mitt Romney is proving to be a good source of blog material.  Yesterday, I performed a song in church.  I was pleased with my performance.  There were some obvious flaws but, in all, I would say it was well done.  I nailed my high G and that’s the note that mattered.

Apparently, Mrs. Ann Romney thought it was pretty good, too.  She had given a talk just before I sang and was sitting behind me during my number.  According to my wife and friends in the congregation, Mrs. Romney did indeed shed a tear or two.  I was quite flattered.  Then, after the meeting had ended, Mitt Romney himself came up and personally congratulated me on a job well done, twice.  How bout that?  I count that as a celebrity endorsement of my singing ability.  I’m on my way to the top folks!  Watch out!

San Diego Says No

The SDSU/UCSD Clinical Psychology program informed me today that I was not accepted.  Mega bummer.  Now my only other SoCal option is UCLA and that’s the top clinical psych school in the country so I don’t like my chances.  Oh well.  Two down, seven to go.

A Letter From Yale

9 02 2010

I regret that my first post after a bit of an absence carries bad tidings but I’ve been telling everybody that I would post on my blog when I received word from any of the grad schools to which I applied.  Yesterday I received the first such word, an email from prestigious Yale University that regretted to inform me that I would not be attending their graduate school this fall.  They thought it prudent to let me know that I was one of over 10000 applicants to apply to graduate school at Yale, perhaps hoping to help me feel better that, in addition to myself, over 10000 other hopefuls would also not be attending.  Or perhaps complaining that they have to suffer through reading over 10000 applications.  Either way, they did not want yours truly.  Fortunately, my hopes were not too high concerning this particular school and I remain quite optimistic about my chances at the other schools to which I applied.  One down, eight to go.
